Minister of Defense and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan B. Atamkulov visited Afghanistan

The Minister of Defense and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov, on behalf of the Head of State, paid a working visit to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

As part of the trip, meetings were held with the President of Afghanistan, the heads of the executive branch and the National Security Secretariat, and the ministers of interior and defense.

At the meeting with the President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani, the possibility of cooperation in the field of space activities was discussed, in particular, the Kazakh side offered the services of the space system for remote sensing of the Earth of the Republic of Kazakhstan (ERS of the Republic of Kazakhstan).

In turn, the Afghan leader expressed interest in using data from Kazakh remote sensing satellites, both to ensure the security of the country and the fight against terrorism, and in solving socio-economic problems (clarification of census data, identification of polio outbreaks, control of water resources, geological exploration mineral deposits, carrying out engineering and survey work for the design of infrastructure facilities).

At the end of the meeting, B. Atamkulov thanked for the reception and expressed confidence in the productive continuation of the negotiation process, and also invited the Afghan leadership to take part in the V International Exhibition of Arms and Military-Technical Equipment “KADEX-2018”, which will be held in Astana in May 2018.
